Human Call Association

Around 100 000 people live in the Palestinian refugee camp Ein el-Helwe in south Lebanon. The camp is surrounded by a wall with checkpoints manned by the Lebanese military. In the event of unrest, these checkpoints are closed and people are prevented from getting in and out of the camp. Here, Human Call Association (HCA) runs a hospital. It is the only one in the camp open around the clock meaning that when the camp is closed, for example due to violent fighting inside the camp, it is sometimes the only option for the injured to receive care.

Björkåfrihet has supported the work of HCA since 2009.
