Human Call Association

Around 100 000 people live in the Palestinian refugee camp Ein el-Helwe in south Lebanon. The camp is surrounded by a wall with checkpoints manned by the Lebanese military. In the event of unrest, these checkpoints are closed and people are prevented from getting in and out of the camp. Here Human Call Association (HCA) runs a hospital, the only one in the camp open around the clock, and thus filling a key function when the camp is closed, for example due to violent fighting inside the camp.

HCA is also one of the biggest Palestinian grassroots organisations in Lebanon and is therefore acting as a support for several smaller organisations.

Björkåfrihet has supported the work of HCA since 2009.
