Around 100 000 people live in the refugee camp Ein el-Helwe in the Southern part of Lebanon, of whom half are registered by the UN. The last years the camp has received thousands of newly arrived refugees from Syria that live under very difficult conditions. Here Human Call Association (HCA) runs a hospital, the only one in the camp open around the clock. Björkåfrihet has supported the hospital since 2009.
Human Call Association (HCA) is also one of the biggest Palestinian grassroots organisations in Lebanon and is therefore acting as a support for several smaller organisations. Björkåfrihet is also supporting a project where they focus on leadership education for youth from different Palestinian civil society organisations around Lebanon.
